This is my New Geek Philosopher blog, replacing my old Blogger one because Blogger is made of suck and fail when it comes to my needs.
I’m Jacob Martin, not your average teenage blogger in that I’m not a teenage blogger anymore, I’m a man now, thank you very much.
I’ve met Terry Pratchett, Germaine Greer (and got roasted by her when I dared ask her a question), as well as Neil Gaiman. With the exception of Germaine Greer they were nice celebrities who were very kind and personable. Among other exploits I’ve been to the Pyramids of Giza, Cyprus, Disneyland and Universal Studios, as well as many Aussie places such as Queensland (where I was born), Melbourne, Perth, and Adelaide (please don’t go to Adelaide, it’s a hole. I beg you!).
As you may have guessed, I am an Australian, which means I have an Aussie perspective on things, less focused on how America is doing and more focused on what’s going on in the world. Japan is one of my interests, as well as Anime and Manga, which I became interested in not from Naruto and Bleach but the fine works of Osamu Tezuka, a man whose beliefs in peace and the end of human conflict to benefit mankind I highly respect. Even in his Anime cartoons violence is never glorified.
But that’s not the only think I blog about. I write about the philosophy of the Geek and Nerd lifestyle, the aesthetics, fashion, and the mindset of geekdom. All in all I try to cover a lot of ground.
